The Craft of a Nashville Songwriter:
This is a four-week introduction to the expanded 8-week course to be offered at the Nashville Musicians Association.
Starting in February 2025, Steve will offer an 8-week intensive course, “The Craft of a Nashville Songwriter: How We Did It In The 90s and How They’re Still Doing It Today.” The course includes 16 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction + 2 half-hour private Zoom consultations.
Classes will be held at the Nashville Musicians Association.

ABOUT STEVE LESLIE | Steve Leslie has had a professional songwriting career for more than 30 years with songs recorded by Kenny Rogers, Mark Chesnutt, George Strait, Darryl Worley, Rhonda Vincent, Neal McCoy, Ricky Skaggs, Darius Rucker, Jake Worthington, and many more.
Along with multiple BMI awards, Steve received a Grammy Certificate for the title cut to Ricky Skaggs' 2004 Best Bluegrass Album of the Year “Brand New Strings.”
As a co-writer and mentor, Steve was instrumental in the careers of artists Erin Enderlin, Chris Stapleton, and Abbey Cone.
As an educator, Steve was an adjunct professor of Jazz History at Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, FL, and of Songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville, TN; a frequent guest clinician; and lecturer at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, and Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
He is a Senior Faculty Member at the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), a member of the Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), and the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA).
From 2014-2018, Steve was Managing Partner of SNG Music Publishing responsible for signing songwriters Marty Dodson, Mark Nesler, Zarni De Wet, and Abbey Cone.
Steve has released three CDs, as well as written the music and book for the full-length musical “Umbrella.” He tours regularly with “How Sweet It Is! Steve Leslie sings James Taylor,” with artist representation at Epic Arts Management, New York, NY.
He received his B.M. in Guitar/Jazz Studies from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY.
Steve lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Amy, a public school educator/administrator. He has two sons, Steven and Jacob.
